It doesn’t matter if you practice any organized religion or not, if you believe in God or not, if you are a theist, atheist or an agnostic. You may or may not think that there is a higher power who is in charge or you may think that it is a self-propelling mechanism. My goal is to share my view of how this mechanism operates that I see in place and that we all are a part of.
When we think about evolution, the word that flashes in mind is ‘change’. Change is also the symbol of ‘moving forward’. The Universe is constantly evolving. This may mean that the components of the Universe are also constantly evolving. The process in place that makes this evolution possible may be called Cosmic Play or Maya.
In this article I am going to share my view of how, as a part of this cosmic-play, the soul goes on a journey and gathers experiences which ultimately get stored in the space in vibrational form known by some as Akashic Records. One can look at Akashic Records as a cosmic digital library where all the details are stored about any event that has ever happened within the cosmos.
Brahma is a Sanskrit term found in Vedas (the oldest text found on earth) which means ‘that which is ever expanding’. I would like to express Brahma as Source. Present-day scientists say that the Universe is constantly growing. Expansion and growth are both terms that have similar meaning in terms of evolution. For expansion or/and growth what we need is ‘addition’ e.g. if you have $5 and you want them to grow or expand, what you need is to ‘add’ $5 more. Thus we can understand that for any growth or expansion addition is the basic requirement.
Now, look at both these terms ‘expansion’ or ‘growth’, with reference to the Source. If the Source has to expand, it needs addition. In my understanding, this is how the addition takes place to the Source. There is a flow that starts from the Source and ends into the source as per the diagram give below :
As shown above, the Source releases itself in the form of tiny particles into this flow of life. These are like specs or dots of light. We will know them as soul or spirit. Since they are the part of the Divine, their basic characteristics are divinity, bliss and joy. Remember, these souls have the goal to learn, grow or evolve and go back to the source for the ultimate expansion of the Source/Universe to take place. The best place for maximum growth for soul is planet earth because this is the only place where all three dimensions - namely body, mind and energy are possible/available. Even though there are 7 energy realms above the earth and 7 below, there is nowhere else that all the three dimensions are present to help soul grow to its highest potential.
Soul may incarnate on any of the 7 realms on earth when it begins the journey but for the purpose of ease of understanding, let us assume that to gain fuller experience, the soul starts its journey by incarnating on earth in the form a human being.
Let us begin by assuming that in human form, he experienced extreme poverty. All through life, there were never enough resources available to have food, clothing and shelter. The strongest desire of this person was to have ‘money’ to buy basic necessities. This person was very unhappy and constantly experienced emotional turmoil. As the days passed, before the desire could be fulfilled, due to aging or other reasons like malnutrition, disease etc., death came. The lesson learnt in this lifetime was that ‘poverty’ was very painful and the unfulfilled desire was ‘to have money’. Let’s understand it by using the following diagram:
Why would this soul want to come back to the earth? The answer is to make money and get rid of the pain of poverty and become happy.
The soul comes back again to the planet earth through a human form. His goal is to make money. He then starts making money. At one stage, he realizes that he has a lot of money but he is still ’unhappy’. He thinks that, if money can’t make him happy, probably ‘power’ will. But before he can assume power, the end of the life approaches. Lesson learnt is ‘money cannot buy happiness’ and unfulfilled desire is, ‘power’ can. Death comes and the soul leaves the body.
Soul reincarnates in a human form once again and he starts working towards becoming a ‘powerful’ man. His consistent hard work makes him head of a corporation or head of the state or something similar where he has a lot of power. However, he still feels unfulfilled or unhappy. The life is passing by but happiness remains an illusion. Once again, the end of the life approaches but happiness is yet to be found. Lesson learnt ‘power cannot bring happiness’. New desire ‘maybe sex can’.
The Soul again reincarnates in a human form and the person starts working towards becoming a ‘macho stud’. All his efforts are towards having sexual connections with as many partners as possible. He tries every trick to experience sexual pleasure. After multiple experiments he realizes that happiness is intense but short lived. Happiness comes and goes away. Therefore, to experience it again and again, he has to carry-out the sexual act over and over. The life is passing by but he is still unfulfilled and unhappy as ever. If you look at the pattern so far, one may conclude that he is looking for the state of happiness that never ends or “Permanent Happiness”. Once again, the end of that life approaches but happiness is yet to be found. Lesson learnt ‘sex cannot bring happiness’. New desire is ‘to find something that brings permanent happiness.'
Soul reincarnates again. But this time it is equipped with the knowledge that probably it had been looking for what it wanted in the wrong place. Every single time it reincarnated, it looked for what it thought would make it happy, in the outer (material) world and ended up feeling letdown, unhappy, unfulfilled and discontented. Therefore, this time it decided to change direction and turn inwardly (inside) to search for happiness.
At this stage, it will be pertinent to introduce this term ‘permanent happiness’.
One may wonder, what is the meaning of ‘permanent happiness’ and why does the soul keep searching for it? I think the answer is very obvious. In a worldly way, we are constantly striving to be free of physical and emotional sorrow and pain so that we can be happy. In the search for that happiness, we try finding it in clothes, shoes, jewelry, automobiles, house, emotions, human relationships and other materialistic things. But as the time passes, those same things and emotions do not make one happy as they did before.
At this juncture, one may ask this question to oneself, ‘what am I looking for? Why am I constantly looking for new things? Am I looking for something that never ends or never changes? Am I looking in the right place for what I want?’ When such questions arise, a person starts looking for guidance, teachers and mentors who can help find the answers. He receives recommendations that instead of looking in the outer world, he may try to look inward. This is when the soul journey takes a turn and the search begins within self.
This search ultimately ends-up in rediscovering and merging back with the source and helping it to evolve /grow/expand.
For the ease of understanding, I have discussed only four desires and four lifetimes. In reality there can be multiple desires and it may take multiple lifetimes, may be 100, 200 or many more, before the return journey begins.
Akashic Records are considered to be the cosmic-library where all the data pertaining to the above mentioned soul journey remains stored and can be accessed by a trained person at any time.
For me personally, this is not the end. I am constantly learning and evolving. Please know that these are my perceptions and my views. You are welcome to ask questions, share opinions and your personal experiences. Please use Contact form on my website to reach out to me.
